Belgium Grand Prix 2019
After roughly three years of talking about it, this year the Eurowerks crew finally stepped up and booked tickets for the Belgian Grand Prix at the world famous Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.
As you will perhaps be able to tell from some of the photos, Spa is extremely undulating with a whopping 102.2 metres between the lowest and highest points of the track (335 ft for the old schoolers) so lugging around camera equipment (and beer) was quite the effort and we really hope you guys enjoy the results on this page!
You’ll notice the cars run a low downforce set-up in Belgium, with the track one of the fastest on the calendar, and watching them fly past was truly impressive, both along the straights and the physics defying speeds they carry through the corners, notably through the famous Eau Rouge corner and up the steep climb to Radillon.
Sadly the event was marred by the tragic accident in the Formula 2 race on Saturday evening that took the life of the great young talent Anthoine Hubert after he spun his car at Eau Rouge and was left stranded in the middle of the track as the unsuspecting Juan Manuel Correa unavoidably collided with him at full speed. Correa also remains in an induced coma at the time of writing after being transferred to a specialist medical unit in London.
If you haven’t seen video or pictures of the accident we urge you not to look for them as they are not nice viewing.
The accident was a tragic reminder of the risks these drivers take every time they suit up to drive wheel to wheel at the highest speeds possible, and all of us at Eurowerks will keep Anthoine Hubert and his family in our thoughts, as we hope that Juan Manuel Correa pulls through to make a full recovery. Most importantly, if you need legal help for these kind of events, you may contact car accident attorneys to help you.
Whilst it may not be for another few years, we have already started talking about another F1 weekend in Europe, perhaps to Monza which would make one hell of a roadtrip.
After departing Spa the team made their way to the Nurburgring, and hopefully you’ve enjoyed the photos we’ve already posted from Motorsport Mecca, where we’ll definitely be returning as soon as possible!
If you have any suggestions for other roadtrips and/or race weekends we should look at give us a shout.
